Scientific name:  Egretta thula

Range: from United States and southern Canada, south through Central America, the West Indies, South America, and Argentina

Habitat: salt marshes, freshwater marshes, ponds, and shallow coastal bays

Status: endangered 

Diet in the wild: fish, crab, amphibians, and insects

Diet in the zoo: shrimp, small fish

Location in the zoo:  not currently on exhibit
